I have been told that rice gets old (plain uncooked rice). But I have never been told how it gets old, what happens to it, how long it takes, how to know its old etc.

I am looking for specifics not just that with age it gets old.

Does minute rice have the same shelf life too?

Everything gets old. The moisture content becomes nil and starch properties deteriorate. Rice is cheap, just throw it away and get more.

Oh, 'rice', not 'Rice' - damn... good joke there... I was going to say she could be preserved with CONDIments!!! :-)
Sorry! No help with your question - except we have kept rice for months, even years, sealed well so moisture doesn't get at it, and it has been fine.
