Reading body language is not breed-specific. Any dog can do it (and do it much better than its human counterpart) from a few months onward.

If you are worried about your dog getting into scuffs with other dogs, be sure the other dog is not simply making a dominance play as opposed to agressively attacking. The difference between the two is not easily distinguished unless one dog does a 'grab and hold' or is obviously going to blood.

Dogs naturally run in packs and in order to figure out the pecking order of two similar temperment dogs, they must scuffle for dominance. There are no board room meetings in the kanine world, so this is simply how it is done.

Back to your question, there is no set age, but a good estimate is 3-4 months, unless your dog was not around other dogs in its early puppy stages (4-6 weeks), in which it will require extra time to adapt to socializing.

Enjoy your shephard puppy, as they are fun, high energy dogs.

As soon as the pup starts to "act up". That is how the mom teaches the pup manners. unless you are talking about plain old aggressive behavior- then they can figure it out through the scent literally- they can smell fear, aggression, other dogs' pee for a month...........they can find live & dead bodies, even smell cancer. Great noses.

not sure what you mean by this question, but if you mean does a dog know when another dog is going to bite him? i do believe that dogs know right away - it is common instinct and dogs are able to easily read other dogs' body language
