Forgiveness is always needed any time someone wrongs you or someone else. With that said, forgivenesss is always needed when you wrong someone.
Forgiveness isn't always an easy thing to do. Alot of times we are so angry we don't want to forgive the offender at all, but it's neccessary.
Forgiveness is always granted. Why would God tell us to forgive and then not grant it?
Forgiving isn't the same as forgetting. You may have forgiven someone, but that doesn't erase your memory.
Forgiveness is important because Christ tells us to forgive. He forgave us, so it must be important :-)

Forgiveness is not the same as forgetting. Sometimes it is impossible to forget but, as long as one is forgiven that's all that is important. Forgiveness should be granted always. When you don't forgive you bind the sin to the person. Forgiveness enables them to conquer that sin if they repent of it. I have often thought that if you did not want to end up a Saint you should never be forgiven bu one because throughout history there is several examples of that. St. Steven, the first martyr is a good example. He forgave no other than Saul who became St. Paul. Then there is St. Maria Goretti who after 40 something stab wounds forgave her attacker right before she died (1880's or 90's). Her attacker served his time in prison and ended up a Brother in a Monastery. The key is forgiveness and usually the more a person is forgiven the greater the love they have for the person they have sinned against which always leads them to God. The only sin that is not forgiven is the sin against the Holy Spirit which is the sin not asked forgiveness for because at that point you are saying that your wickedness is more powerful that the goodness of God and to what extent the sacrifice of Jesus went. The Sacrifice of Jesus covered ANY evil because there is no measuring his good.

Forgiveness can be one of the hardest things you'll ever do, depending on the situation. No, it isn't always granted. No their not the same thing. Forgiveness important because carrying a grudge creates stress and it's unhealthy.

God said to forgive and you will be forgiven,if I do not forgive someone when they have intentionally hurt me or unintentional,I have have the same lack of grace given to me when I need t be forgiven. If I harbor resentment,or hate for anyone it will hinder my relationship with Christ. It may be hard to trust the person again, but God wants us all to walk in forgiveness for others.I cant imagine how much love Christ had for us when he said after he was crucified forgive them father for they know not what they do.If we say we are Christians, and do not practice what Jesus did we are fooling ourselves.Jesus said pray for those who spitefully use you, ouch.Love those that hate you, ouch.I'm not perfect in this by any means. But I want to be,because I do want to be more like Christ,it means dying to all my sinful aspirations, selfishness, unforgiveness, hate, resentment, the list goes on and on.I say if everyone walked in forgiveness this world would have more love.

If someone wrongs you, you can forgive that person without letting him/her continue to abuse you. It means laying it down, and moving on with your life. It is for your benefit. It also means not holding grudges, hate, or not trying to get even but to pray for and wish the best for that person. If you pray God will help you to forgive---it's sometimes impossible on our own. Forgiveness is important because we all wrong others, no one is perfect, and God said if we do not forgive others, he will not forgive us.

Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who trespass against us, forgiveness comes from mercy and love, without forgiveness you would have hatred and mental illness.
Let go and let God.
