You could start regulating her food. Feed her a smaller amount each day and avoid feeding your dog table scraps and other "people" food. I'm not sure what Lhaso Apso's are supposed to weight but if you dog is just a little bigger than normal I wouldn't be too worried. Just like people, not every dog fits into their "target" weight and size. If your dog is greatly overweight I would check with a vet for a program that would work for your dog.

I have a yorkie who is about 3 pounds overweight. It doesn't seem like much but for a little dog it is. I never give her people food except for the occasional carrots that she loves!

Our vet recommended that she have more exercise. My husband tries to walk her daily. She just loves it. We also try to throw her rope and ball and play fetch while we are watching tv.

We feed her Eukanuba. We have started using a measuring cup to measure her food so she is not overfed.

Our vet also recommended that if the above doesn't work to switch to the 'diet' or low fat Eukanba version. We haven't done this yet, but it's our next step.

If she is overweight, but otherwise healthy, you can feed her a weight control formula, and give her more exercise...she should see the vet, to make sure that there is not an underlying cause, and for advice on what kind and how much exercise she should have.

is she fat?? or is she just large sized... your dog isn't a show dog - and therefore, she probably isn't going to look like the "typical" lhasa's that you see in the breed ring.... where did you get her? did you buy her as a show prospect?? if you did the breeder will probably get you another pup.

Maybe she just needs a little more exercise. Take her for a walk everyday and I'm sure the pounds will come off easily.

Consult your vet about putting her on a diet. There are several good foods for this purpose. You should also have her thyroid checked - low thyroid can lead to weight gain in dogs and it is very common. It was the reason for my golden retreiver's weight problem.

Talk to your vet about her diet and excersize program. He may have suggestions on another type of food, or how long she should be walked.

There also could be a medical reason, so please, see your vet.

You could have her thyroid checked at the Vet, sometimes that causes weight problems
