I think this forum has become a very combative forum because there are so many here who have no belief in anything religious or spiritual.
I have also observed people who claim to be Christian using very abusive language on this forum, and that is not right.
To me, this forum is to share ideas, without demeaning anyone.
That will never happen.

i dont think i've really been put in the situation where I feel that another person is trying to push their beliefs on me. I am Roman Catholic, but I have Muslim friends, my best friend is Greek Orthodox, I work with a family who is of Coptic faith, I've got a couple of friends who have studied and taken a great interest in Buddism and my brother is currently right into the whole scientology phase.
Its good becoz I get to hear a lot of different opinions and its interesting to learn about different cultures and what they believe in.
However, I do agree, I don't like people who try to push their own beliefs on others but I guess it's simply a case of each person being standing strong and not allowing others to sway them. Even tho I talk to other people of different cultures about their beliefs, I at times do challenge some things and ask why things may be considered right or wrong, I know how to ask in a way that doesn't come across as an attack on their religion as a whole and most people would know I'm the type of person who is strong enough to take on different opinions and still have my own.

I don't loathe discussing topics I consider important and life changing, especially if they have a direct impact on the people around me. At the same time, I consider it absolutely necessary to respect the freedom of the persons with whom I dialog. Being rude and pushy is offensive, no matter what the topic.
At the same time, there are certain topics which people tend to get very heated about because they are held so strongly, and they conflict greatly with other ideas. It can be difficult to remain objective and disinterested in these situations, so it is understandable that people may appear to be rude or pushy, though it doesn't excuse them. Most people mean well, even if they can't communicate well, so it helps to take things with a grain of salt sometimes.
Even so, sometimes it isn't possible for people to "all just get along," but that doesn't necessarily suggest violence, just polite disagreement. For instance, "getting along" suggests compromise, and there are certain issues some people just can't compromise on - for instance life issues. Still, no matter the amount of disagreement, each person should be able to continue to hold respect for the other just out of human dignity.

Questions that look to be pushing some belief I don't go with I just don't click on. If i do I generally look at it and pass it by and don't worry about it. If it is something i have some concerns about i will answer. Otherwise this is a public forum and everyone is allowed to state whatever belief they want. And in a controversial topic like religion you are going to get disagreements. So you kind of have to take things with a grain of salt and have a bit thicker skin. Its only the truly hate filled questions that I have any problem with and that is what the report button is for.

If the question starts out preaching I simply do not go there. But I get really irritated when someone asks a legitimate question, particularly a non-Christian question and some ignorant, close minded person has to chime in by saying how wrong it is, that we need to be saved. Then provided 3 or 4 paragraphs of bible verses to back it up. Guess that goes back to your sentence about rude answers. I began coming here in order to provide insight and share information on things I know. If it a question about Christianity I will keep my thoughts to myself.

this is a cut and paste from another of your questions, asked in the politics section.
***************************************************************888
you ask
(quote)
Do YOU believe that Muslims here in our country could create the downfall of the US?
Many people in the US today just think muslims are people who want to worship in freedom but they are not all that way! It is important that the average American realizes that not all muslims are looking to live in peace with others, but to force allah on everyone else. Leaders of CAIR and other islamic organizations have stated time again that their goal is to make the US an islamic nation. Not possible? How many local governments and city councils now have muslims on them? There is a mulsim sentator now who holds the laws of the koran to be more important that those of the US Constitution and the Bible. How many taxi drivers are now muslim and refuse service to anyone they feel is not "worthy" to ride in their cab? How many people are now being forced to "respect" the islam religion above and beyond their own beliefs? We need to realize they have a plan already in action for our country and most Americans are only worried about Donald Trump and Rosie O'Donald! Wake up and smell the coffee from behind the veil all women will be forced to wear if Musslims from the Middle East take over! And let me be open here, I don't mean Muslims who truly want peace and are not pushing allah. And WHO are our neighbors REALLY, with all of the allowing other nation's citizens into our country? Don't we realize that is how 9/11 happened, we believed those terrorists to be our friends & neighbors. Not terrorists out to kill us!
end quote.

to many this would look like you are pushing your own anti-muslim religious agenda. many of your other questions are very strongly worded to the Christian side of things.
i do not like people that push their religions, i think that religion is a personell choice that should be simply respected by everyone else.

In the first place you are in the religious forum. If you don't want to hear about it, don't come to this forum. This is for honest people who want answers or to share their beliefs. If we don't agree with the other beliefs, that's ok. You tell me what you believe, and I'll tell you what I believe. No one can push anything on you, and if you don't want to hear anything about religion or spirituality, you are in the wrong place. By the way, I am a christian. God bless you!

well i'm agnostic and to me i find it very annoying and at the same time rude now don't get me wrong i don't have a problem with people having their own religious beliefs but when you go around saying that everybody else is wrong for not sharing the same beliefs as you do then that's a serious problem due to the fact that everybody is different from one another and that's basically saying that you don't accept me for who i am or what i choose to believe or not believe at all

Anytime someone offers a differing opinion people say they are "shoving it down our throats".
That is total nonsense. Some people have passion about their beliefs. Whether they are Christian, Wiccan, Atheist, or whatever, if they feel passion, they share it. You can chose to perceive it anyway you want to. Personally I just read what I want to and ignore the rest.

If you believe something to be true, it would seem that you would have some obligation to share it. If you are not open to discussion of things of "religion and spirituality" you could go to different part of Y/A.
