I need to sell a purebred German Shepherd. He was a very expensive purchase for my parents (prize-winning German bloodlines), and because of circumstances beyond their control, they cannot keep him. I have no idea where to sell a dog that is kind of "high profile". They know they want to make sure he goes somewhere he can continue obedience training and win dog shows, or go to someone that will benefit from his intelligence. A lot of websites are simply people wanting a next-to-free dog, and you can tell that they don't intend to train the pet or value them (or groom them when you look at their other pets). Does anyone know of a website or place (they live in AZ) to sell this kind of dog?

You should contact the local German Shepherd club and or German Shepherd Rescues in your area. I might also suggest contacting your local search and rescue groups and or the police. They train dogs that fit the needs they are looking for.

Never ever give a pet away for free!! There are cruel people out there that do mean things to animals given to them for free.

View this website and see if you can find a rescue in your area who might be able to help you find the right home for this dog.

Otherwise if you are looking for money, than I suggest that you find somebody in a German Shepherd Breeders by the AKC.

Good Luck! There are way to many dogs looking for forever homes!

Not true. I have always brought home Shelter dogs. They are well-fed, trained, groomed well, and enjoy a great life - once they are with us. Paying more doesn't necessarily equal better care. Some people just want to have puppy mills, and sell dogs. They don't care at all for their animals. So you could sell to someone claiming to want to take it to shows, train, etc. And then they just stick it in a cage and breed it.

Be careful. Some of the best people get their pets from "no kill," shelters because they want to do what is right for the animal - and are not as concerned with what they can "get," from the animal.

Find a GSD rescue in your area. A good rescue will require a dog of this level of training to go to a home where they will continue with the training. It would be helpful if you are able to "foster" the dog as long as possible until a suitable home can be found.

Contact the German Shepherd Club www.gsdca.org . Also contact Kennel & obedience clubs in your state. If he has been shown contact other show people. Do NOT sell him by way of the net or in newspaper adds.

Get in touch with the breed clubs, I'm sure there are plenty exhibitors who would want him if he's as good as you think.
