Talk to him and tell him that you've been together for nine years and you would like to get married. I don't think that it's "forcing" him to marry you, as the other users have suggested. I talked to my boyfriend when I was starting to feel like I wanted to get married. It took him awhile to get used to the idea, but he proposed a few months later. He said that he was meaning to and that it was my talking to him that made him take action.

You have nothing to lose by talking to your boyfriend. Either he says yes and you can get engaged or he says no, and you can either 1.) wait it out - which I wouldn't recommend since you've already been with him for 9 years or 2.) let go and move on.

It may be awkward to bring up the subject of marriage, but you've already waited nine years. You can't afford to wait any longer.

I'm confused. You have been where for 9 years and you want to leave where to go where? What is his lifestyle that you don't believe in? I'm not sure why you want him to marry you. This does not sound like a good situation.

You need to talk to him. Tell him what you want and what you need. If you've been together for 9 years I don't think it's an unfair reuqest. But sadly, if he's unwilling to commit the way you want him to you may have to consider moving on with your life and finding someone who shares your common goals of marriage & such. Good luck.

First of all, you should not have to force anyone to marry you. Love is a wonderful thing, that both of you want more than anything to be together.Believe me you will know when love comes to you.Nothing better than to be Happy together forever.Good Luck.

why don't u talk to him about marriage and see what he says first. he might think that you aren't ready to get married. when u talk to him and if he doesn't want to get married, then u might want to pack up your bags and leave because 9 years is a long time to be with someone.

If you have to resort to "getting him to marry you" then I can about guarentee it won't last.
That is called a ploy, and a ploy perceived is a flop and a back-fire!
Do you really want this particular family, for he'll never get a new one!

You can't make anyone want to marry you. He is entitled to chose who he marrys. If you have stuck around for 9 years that is YOUR problem. You made that choice.

If he loves you and is willing to be devoted to you then he shouldnt care what his family thinks. If you have been with him for a while and he hasn't dropped any hints, maybe it's time to move to greener pastures! Talk to him.
