It's not just embarrassing, it's depressing. It's not just the Bible, the loons who pore over the Qu'ran looking for ways of blowing people up, or wobble about over the Torah proclaiming that the land they're standing on was decreed theirs by God 5,000 years earlier, have no greater claim to respect.
And they're not just disregarding historical and scientific fact. They wilfully fight against it. These people are often in positions of power. Scary.

Is it just me or do you too get really embarrassed that people in the 21st century in 1st world countries believe the universe came from nothing? They open their school textbooks and without any sort of thought are taking them word for word, totally disreguarding historical facts, scientific facts, and basic human nature for writing down ones own thoughts. I find it completely frightening. Does anybody else?

No, it doesn't frighten me, I feel sad for them that they can't see the truth, but they have the right to believe whatever they want. If they want to believe the Bible word for word, they are allowed to, but if they get left behind in the world as people move on without God, that will be their problem, not ours.

"each and every time I see an atheist asking a troll question, posing as a Christian (continuously a bigoted one), " or you in user-friendly words want to imagine that. because there are some very bigoted very idiotic persons on the Christian area. yet i wager that is extra reachable to easily call them atheist trolls. "and not in any respect the Christians." Uh huh. "his question would not even sound like what a Christian might want to say." i have considered Christians spout the most hateful drivel conceivable. human beings like NCWJ.

Embarrassed? No. Sad. Many believe in these fairy tales because they have had awful lives and long for a new beginning. They don't realize that religion perpetuates the BS.

I am embarassed for them, I feel pity for them.
I am also frightened by them, the religious zeal that led to 9/11 could just as easily happen with zealots of the christian persuasion. Look at the mess the christians got us into in Iraq.

It doesn't embarrass me in any way. It is indicative of the intelligence level and the education of the general population. Sad.

The lack of critical thinking is frightening. The religious, social and political ramifications are brutal.

It's annoying to me, but it's their lives. Just as long as their dogma doesn't interfere with my life, I'm good. But at this point in time, laws based on religious opinion are being made, so I'm not so good.
