Respect them as you would a wild animal. They are driven only by the instinct for survival and kill when they feel threatened.

What does religion have to do with destruction of our planet? The destruction is cause by man stupidity and the abuse it has done to the planet. The real question should be What can I do to help slow down the destruction. The world will die in years to come but most Likely not in your life time or your grand kids life.

It's not a matter of "apocalyptic destruction". A lot of people don't read revelation and therefore don't understand the true context of the whole bible. Revelation 22: 12 "and behold, I am coming quickly and my reward is with me, to give everyone according to his work.
Don't go blaming God or "religion" because of mans iniquity to not keep the commandments he gave to us in the first place. Ex: If you run a red light--you get a ticket. God holds us to a certain standard. He just wants you to turn away from >your< selfish standards. God put certain people on this earth to tell those who feel they can use his standards as a door mat, they better reconsider. We're not "shoving it down throats"--he's just put it in our hearts to tell others "don't run the red lights" or you stand before the judge and get his sentencing.
I backslid and used his standards as a "door mat" throughout my life--and my consequences were: homelessness, drunkenness, adultery, lust, just to start with.
Until I changed my thinking that he was in control did anything do a "180".
God doesn't want to destroy what he made, but he will change what he doesn't like, and the iniquities of man are his footstool.
That Christian handing you that tract is trying to tell you "don't run the red light"-stop.
Our joy comes from knowing and loving Jesus Christ, and the hope we have in knowing him. Excuse my diatribe--the Christian on the computer is trying to tell you--stop.

Should I have respect for religion when.....?
there ultimate joy comes from the apocalyptic destruction of our planet?

Wrong, wrong and wrong.

ultimate joy comes from an intimate & eternal relationship with God the Creator.

the destruction of this world is not God's doing but that of our own selfish egocentric mindset.this is why we murder each other, we steal from eachother and lie toeach other. then we blame God since we refuse to accept responsability for our own destructive ways.

so to show respect is outside the scope of ones own selfish mindset. if you are the center of the universe then you can as you wish. if you have any humilty then you know your not and thus should render respect to your fellow man in all things.

you don't have to agree or belkieve but you should respect just as you demand respect for yourself.

I can't answer for anyone else, but I have no "ultimate joy" about apocalyptic destruction of this planet. I believe it will happen, but I'm sure in no hurry for it. I'm kinda going for dying in my sleep, not being destroyed during the tribulation. It's not my choice though. Believing doesn't necessarily mean we're looking forward to it.

Your question assumes that all religions believe in the "joy" of an apocalyptic event.
Mine doesn't.

You can respect some of the results of religion. Religion has been the inspiration for many artistic and musical masterpieces, the cause of many charities that exist for the aim of helping people, etc.

And you can disagree with the negative effects of those same religions - intolerance, war...

Not sure what religion that one is... The ultimate joy in my religion comes from the salvation provided from my lord Jesus.

You should have respect for all religions. Liking or agreeing with them is another matter though, and is based on preference and opinion. But for peace's sake, yes, you should respect religion.
