Steam is very good. In addition, you can do coupage. That is when you cup your hands and gently tap her ribs, almost like you're softly clapping with your dog between your hands. This can help loosen mucus and help her cough it up and breathe better. But, above all, please take her to the vet if at all possible. They can give her the best monitoring and care, and she will soon be well again. At least, they can prescribe her meds to aid her comfort.

My cat went through the same thing when she was younger.
It turned out she had a herpes virus and there are over 150 different kinds out there, so I wouldn't suggest having blood work ran to see which one she has.
Anyway, the vet gave her an antibiotic and within 2 or 3 days, she was back to being her normal self.

I would take her to a vet if I were you. I had a cat that had a respiratory problems and they gave me some amoxocylin pills to give him and he was fine in a few days. Since the kitten is so young I would definitely get her checked because she may not be strong enough to fight infection by herself.

No. As several others pointed out, tigers and lions do not. They cannot. The physiological structures that allow members of the cat family to vocalize are such that an animal can either roar or purr but not both (our pet kitties don't roar, after all, do they!) Hence, the cats who purr cannot roar and the cats who roar cannot purr.

Hi Tammie...perhaps what you are hearing is your cat purring. Cats purr when they are content or happy and/or if they are very ill in pain. Since your kitten has already been treated for an upper respiratory infection (URI) it may be that she is purring.
Here's a sound clip of what purring sounds like:

Take it to the vet and they can give you antibiotics. When it comes to respiratory issues, there isn't much you can do without getting proper medical attention/medication.
