It depends on how casual you want it to be. At first I thougt not by email,, at least do it over the phone if you can't do it in person.BUT, thinking about it, if you exchange emails often, you might could keep it breezy, and just slip in there, I 've been meaning to call you to see if you would like to come by for dinner one night, but I have been really busy, If you get a chance call me later. If they call you,,,,,,,you're in!!!!

Over the phone and just tell her you want to get to know her better and would she like to have dinner with you.

She'll say yes or she'll say no. Anything other than yes is a no even if you're not sure what she means.

Phone dude, if it's the first date keep it light, just ask them if there hungry and want to get something to eat. I've never turned down a good meal when asked this way.

Email is too impersonal. I would just use the phone and ask them out for a drink or dinner.

You should do it in person if at all possible, but the phone is better than e-mail for sure!

"hey are you busy later on around (what ever time you want" if response is "no" you say "would you like to join me for dinner" and or make it seem like "wanna hang out"
