I think people would do better to capitalize Earth. If they showed a little more respect for our planet maybe it wouldn't be overheating.

No - capitalizing "God" is right, no matter in case you have self assurance in Him or no longer. "god" isn't the comparable as "God". Your god could be your form new, 50" television set; or your form new motor vehicle; or your holiday time; or maybe a man or woman (your self or yet another man or woman). Your "god" is something you dedicate your self to. it extremely is what you desire to talk approximately whilst there is not any longer something to talk approximately; it extremely is what you desire to think of approximately whilst there is not any longer something greater pressing on your ideas; it extremely is what you're able to do if money and time have been no subject. the element approximately that's that each and each physique has a god - what's the main needed element on your existence. yet God isn't the comparable as "god". God is everlasting, he's no longer guy-made; he's own yet countless. while YOUR god (regardless of that is), YOUR god is merely too small, and not properly easily worth the attempt and time you place into it. You worship (dedicate your self) to a god, although that's an entire waste of a while, skills and power. it won't be able to rescue you out of your sins; it won't be able to supply you an everlasting objective in existence; it won't be able to assist you on the different facet of the grave; and it surely won't be able to assist you once you stand till now God on judgment day. "Thou shalt have not the different gods ... " - you're breaking the 1st commandment, and your gods can on no account save from the penalty of worshiping yet another god!

Of what are you a deacon?

I will write God with a capital G because the Bible writes it with a capital G.
Any word that describes deity should be capitalized.
I am not in your home.
You are a unbeliever on a believers forum.

You are not necessarily showing respect by capitalizing the initial letter of God, you are using traditional grammar. Whether you believe or disbelieve in God, the conventions of grammar still apply.

It's also to differentiate between the generally recognized true God of the Universe, and the many false gods and pretenders. Even if YOU don't believe in Him, you want to be able to comminicate with the rest of human society.

I guess it's like toying around with fire or electricity...or in this case, powers and depth way, way beyond your capacity.

For those with Wisdom, we show God (G not g) respect. Jesus. Father. Holy Spirit.

For those with no knowledge of Him, oblivious to His obvious existence...you play with fire.

What can I say? God is not mocked. What you sow, you will reap.

I agree, people who don't like this practice should write it in all caps to make up for us scoundrels who don't capitalize the G.

Well, it's more because it's bad grammar than anything. Proper nouns are capitalized.
