Very few brides nowadays are actually virgins, yet most of them wear white -- don't sweat it.

Actually, it is the veil that historically denoted modesty.
A white wedding dress is a relatively newer thing. As people became more affluent they could afford a dress just for a wedding. Otherwise they just wore they nicest Sunday dress. It only became popular because Queen Victoria wore white. No special reason.
But in any event - If it is your first marriage go for it all! Veil, big white dress, whatever you want! I think a big white wedding dress with a veil is not suitable for a second marriage - but certainly white is!

Um, if virginity was a requirement for wearing a white wedding dress, I think David's Bridal, and a lot of other places, would be out of business! Wear whatever color you like, virgin or not.

Why is it bad? Everyone else does. You can wear anything you want for your wedding; in this day and age, no one expects you to be a virgin when you get married - but most will expect you to wear a traditional white wedding dress.

Ifit were so bad dearie, then 95% of girls who marry in white
should never have done so.
There is rarely a virgin bride these days, and even less who
chose an alternate color to get married in.
Wear your white and strut your stuff!!
Traditions have been left far behind, and if the truth be known, even those who married in white years ago, were not virgins either.
The only difference between this day and age back in the 50's etc, is that 'now' people don't hide their promiscuity like they used to.!!

no not at all. that was a stupid tradition, throw traddition out the door do what ever you want to do for your wedding and wear what you want to wear it is your wedding not theirs. white, is a color it can represent lots of things, and besides that how many white weddings would we have today if only virgins wore white.
a bad thing would be wearing something else other then the color and apparal that you would like.

That is just a tradition, and people break traditions in weddings all of the time. Go ahead and wear the white. It would be a weird wedding if you didn't wear white. Instead of thinking of the white representing virginity, think of it as representing your departure from innocence in that you were single and now you will be married.

Well I live with my fiance, so obviously not a virgin, but my dress is still white. I don't feel guilty about it. Besides, I figure if my friend wore white & her toddler was in the wedding, I think I'm OK with wearing white. :)

I don't think its bad, my wife was not and she wore white. I think it's more of a old fashioned tradition meaning purity and wearing white. My opinion is a woman getting married for the first time should wear white regardless if she's a virgin or not.

How many brides are actually virgins? I've been with a fair number of women since the age of 14 and I don't think I've ever had a virgin. In fact, the only virgin I'm sure I know is my nine year old daughter.
SO... Wear your white proudly girl. Which of the "defiled" women in your party would have the audacity to call you on it?

only if you are trying to keep with tradition...... but who really does now days??? Girl I say wear what you want. Do you really think everyone who is married in white is a virgin??? I highly doubt it. Two of my good friends got married in white and neither was a virgin. Go for the white if it is what you want.. congratulations!!!!
