Hi I bought a puppy few days ago, l when he first entered my house he was healthy and full of energy, however just last night he started to have diarrhea and throwing up what should I do, I know I should take him to the vet but I live in a small town and they are closed due to a storm.

p.s. when I bought him the shipped him here he was 8 weeks old and the health certificate indicate that he had no syndromes and I don’t think that he became sick because of our home.

Our puppy would get sick occasionally. Try feeding a bland diet. Boil some chicken breast and serve with steamed rice (make sure to serve both at room temperature). This should firm up your puppy's stool. What food are you feeding the puppy? Their digestive systems are very fragile.

Get to the vet as soon as you can. The puppy might need medication.

You should take him to the vet asap. It is hard to say if it is serious. Is he listless or have a very foul smelling diarrhea, that could be Parvo, and is very serious and can't wait. If he is active and playful it could be a from changing his diet suddenly. Until you get him in withhold food and water for 12hrs if he has not vomited you can give small amounts of water, if he handles the water you can give him a bland diet, small amounts of rice and room temp plain yogurt and slowly introduce his regular diet.

Also contact the breeder, find out if any of the litter mates are sick.

What other answer said about health cert is true but doesn't help you right now. I would never buy a puppy without seeing it, you have no idea what you are getting and there are many unscrupulous breeders.

You always, always, always, always take a new puppy to the vet...especailly if it was shipped...within 72 hours of getting it!!!!!!!
A health certificate does not mean much!!!!!!! The dog could have had a fever when it arrived, but you would not know that. It is easier to get a refund or get vet bill paid if you have the pup seen right away. I never bring a new pup HOME, I bring it right to the vet FIRST....just in case!!!!!!
Call tomorrow morning ASAP and get it seen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if you have feed him canned puppy food this may be the reason, change it to dry puppy food, this will make the pup's poop not so soft,as for the throwing up well some times they eat to fast and they regergitate, Im a pitt bull breeder and i see this alot, they are pup's and dont know when to stop eating, and you always take them to the vet for their shots and a check up.

You will definitely want to have him seen by a vet for a number of reasons. Take him as soon as possible.

it could be that he isn't used to the kind of puppy food you are giving him. Give him some cooked rice mixed in with his dog food.
