Call a cat rescue organization and see what they might be able to help you with or see if there is a Vet in your area that will treat the cat and let you make payments. If neither of those are options, take your cat to the SPCA or Humane Society. They will either treat it or put him to sleep if he is too sick but he will not suffer. Cats commonly get upper respiratory infections. He may have that, but he could also have a cat disease that could be fatal. Please do something today! Most large cities or even some that aren't that big have after hours intake.

My vet calls that bug the ropey snots. He needs a trip to the vet. If you can't afford one then at least keep him warm and give him lots of fluids. Don't force fluids into him, just keep a bowl of clean water nearby.
OR---
You could call a vet's office or several vet's offices and ask if they know someone who gives out free medicine for sick cats for folks on a limited income.

Your little friend is counting on you to help him. If you have a humane society in your community, they may be able to help you with the initial vet care. Please look under "Humane Society" in the phone book and see if there's a listing.
Do you have friends or neighbors with cats? They may be able to help you, or may know of a vet who can see your kitty and let you make payments on the bill. Owning a cat is a big responsibility, and it's important to save up some cash to keep on hand for emergencies.

Put you cat in the bathroom and run a hot shower. The steam will help with him breathing.
Your cat probably has a nasty respiratory infection and can only be treated with antibiotics from the vet.
Out of curiosity, if you can't afford a vet bill, why do you have pets?

How old is your cat? And, has he been sick with something? I would go ahead and call a couple vets and explain your situation. They would know best. Tell them you don't have money. Some vets may take your cat and treat him for free. It is worth a try and try it NOW!

get him to drink plenty of fluids and eat. If he is not eating , try giving your cat a bow of chicken or beef broth..milk will only make him more congested..
He really needs to see a vet, call around, some vets will take payments if you can not afford the entire bill up front..
Call your local Farm Supply store, sometimes they carry animal grade antibiotics..
I really hope this is just a simple cold, not a respitory infection or worse...

Call around for vets that may accept some kind of payment plan. My cat had similar problems and when I brought him in they gave me some amoxocylin pills to give him. Overall it didn't cost very much and his condition cleared up very quickly. You need to get your cat seen by a vet soon.

If you can't afford to take care of an animal then you shouldn't own a pet. Pets are a responsibility. Your cat is in serious trouble and needs to see a vet immediately. If you can't afford it then take it to a shelter, someone who can afford him will adopt him. And in the future don't ever get an animal unless you are willing to take on the responsiblity of caring for a living creature.

First of all....you should have been sure you could properly and financially care for a pet before getting one. But, that said, it sounds as though your cat has a cold. As with humans there is not much anyone can do to cure a cold, however, keep a close eye on him to ensure that other symptoms don't develop. If they do, contact a local emergency pet care facility. Most will work out payments for their services.

I used to work at an animal hospital and this sounds like an upper resp. infection. You need some clavamox (antibiotics) for your cat to get any better. I doubt that it will go away on its own and if you have any other cats, i suggest you keep them away because its highly contagious. Its not that expensive to treat and its pretty common. Its sort of like kennel cough for cats. Hope this helped.
