Because it is the name above all other names. When said every knee in hell is bent, in respect. Jesus is the son of GOD. Jesus is the ideal all humans want to attain.
To mock Jesus - means instant attention is given to you, so people that want atention know to mock Jesus people will freak out and give them some attention. People praise Jesus because Jesus earned and deserves all that we can bestow to him.

Fear of death is very powerful, people will do what they have to do to die in peace. Jesus represents Life for many many people. and thus many praise him. For others Jesus represents ignorance, lots of people dislike ignorance in people and ignorance in people's actions. This is why many mock him. Everyone has an opinon about Jesus and there is great power in opinons.

Jesus is God's son. Those who love Him, praise Him. Those who don't, curse him. Those who claim to love Him, curse Him by lack of commitment they show towards Him as His representitives.
