Hello, can any of you guys explain to me what you think the Bond is between Man and Dog?

It is based solely on food. You control the food, and the dog wants to get the food. The dog is conditioned to act a certain way to receive this food. It seems like a more personal bond, but it's really not.

Dr. Patricia McConnell has been studying this. She has an excellent book out: "For The Love of a Dog: Understaning Emotions in You and Your Best Friend"

I heard her speak on the topic and she posits the similarities between humans and dogs is one reason. Dogs do have similar facial expressions (when you know how to read them) and a simple fact is: very few animals play. Humans and dogs are among the few.

And humans and dogs are about the only ones that play with objects.

Now, I'm not saying food isn't an integral part of the equation, but there are dogs that will stay with someone who doesn't feed them.
