that's the bodies way to combat sweat, however with the invention of the deodorant there is no use for it now.

lubrication
scent display
cooling
notice where pubic hair is located
it acts as a lubricant against friction, armpits and butt cheeks and pelvic bones do a lot of rubbing when they're active
in spite of this current fad/fetish of shaving off all the pubic hair, it actually serves a mating purpose in keeping the natural scent around and displayed to attract a mate
this shaving of pubic hair is actually counter-productive, but fads and fetishes always win out over common sense and reasonable behavior
As for cooling, as water (sweat) evaporates it removes heat from the body,
You gotta love the thumbs down I got because I don't buy into the shaving fad/fetish!

This is fairly well known and is quite simple. Humans like most other animals are strongly affected by phremones and a range of olfactory stimuli. The "bush" under our arms and in the public area collect this "musk" that attracts in older times. Today they have sought to reverse that (The French!) and now find such sublte oders scents repulsive. Madison Ave. has succeed in pushing Opera, etc., and most recently (today) a new flight of adverising for :Paris Hilton's new scent just came out. Totally against nature. "The Scent of a Woman" dealt with that subject pretty well. I had a girl friend in high school that drove all the boys crazy with out perfume and such junk. if that help please make it worht my effort, please? best answer?

Humans have hair follicles underneath their armpits which is why they grow hair. In the olden days, no one used to shave it off, so it's become our choice.

Because there's more hair folicles there than on the rest of the arm.
