It's not worth it. Some states make you have an entire seperate kitchen, all stainless, that you must use. I've been making cookies, cakes, etc. and molded, filled and truffle chocolates for years, and can't sell them because I'm not about to get licensed by the state, and put in another kitchen.

I do accept gifts of money for my products though. However, I'm not about to accept anything from anyone but family. If I make something for someone else, and they want to pay me. I'll have them buy the ingredients, and give them to me. That way I'm not selling anything.

The person that told you that you will be breaking some laws if you do this without getting all the facts first is absolutely correct. Go to the department in your city that licenses businesses and ask them what you need to do in order to sell your candies. I've had a business, there are books at the library and on-line that will help you set up a business legally.

It is illegal to sell homemade foods unless you are licensed by the health department, just so you know. I found out the hard way........
