but i don't no how to really explain it better to my hairstylist. cuz of course they dont no what emo is lol.

The haircut you seem to be describing sounds like a real early 70's style (yes, I remember the early 70's!), a sort of mid-length "growing out" shag. If you have a forty-something stylist, you might describe it that way. I don't consider myself punk or emo, and yet I cut my own hair (out of sheer reluctance to go to a salon, a strange and new hangup--haven't been for almost 2 years). People compliment my hair and I think it is the most awful thing on Earth because, of course, I've had no training in how to cut hair. If you want authentic, get a hand mirror and barber's scissors and be prepared to stand for about 45 minutes in front of the bathroom mirror and cut til it looks right.

please do not cut your own hair it's really hard for one thing and too you can't just use a mirror it doesn't work like that. go to your hair stylist and take a pic. and if your scared that it's going to come out wrong then ask them how there going to do it. i learned that from previous experiences. and if you have to resort to cutting it your self then get a friends help.

You need to find a picture of someone or someones hair so you can give them an idea of what you want to do. My advice- dont ask any asian hair cutters!!
