Dogs need dental care, just like humans. If you didn't get in the habit of brushing his teeth as a pup, you can try dentabone or some green mint bones they make and sell at some vet or pet stores, but the best thing is to have a cleaning done by the vet. It is expensive, but it works, and they can fix any dental problems before they become painful.

Ypu should buy your dog toothpaste at kmart, walmart (if you shop there), or at any petshop. You shouldn't try to brush his teeth with human toothpaste because it will be poisoning to your dog. You can also buy your dog mints or cookies that freshen your dogs breath. There are also toys that your dog can chew on that decreases the bad dog breath. The toothpastes come in different flavors of food that your dog might like. Well I hope this helps you out.

They do make treats that have mint in them to freshen their breath. I would also recommend asking your veterinarian at his next visit. He may be suffering from tooth decay or an infection and need treatment.

There are actually "doggie mints" in grocery and pet stores now. Also, there is a spray you can buy in pet stores.
