vaseline, vaseline, vaseline. We have two pugs whose nose's get awfully dry during the winter. Try vaseline for at least 2 weeks straight, put it on a couple of times a day. It WILL work.

Try Bag Balm, it's similar to Vaseline, but is for animals. It was originally used for the dry, chapped utters of milking cows. That's actually pH-balanced for animals, which may be way better than putting human products on his nose. This product caught on and now people use it as well, so I thinking you can get it from some drugs stores; you can definitely get it from a feed store. I had a golden retriever whose nose was always icky like that, and I put it on him a few times a day and it softened right up. Good luck!
Edit: As per a vet's instructions, I put Bag Balm on my dog. At least it my case, my vet didn't hospitalize my dog for a dry nose.

Actually the more stuff you put on his nose, the more he is going to lick it off, and the more cracked it will become. Kind of like when a human gets chapped lips..the more you lick them, the worse it gets. My advice? Get to a vet, they will know how to solve the problem for good.

Try diaper rash cream if you don't mind the colour, also. He may just have cold. Most baby products are scent and fragrant free, also most vet's use baby type medicine for colds or dosages for SMALL dogs.
