Your dog is probably just trying to show its dominance over the other dog. Go to a vet to see when they would advise you to get your dog fixed. For most dogs it's 6 months, but sometimes they do do it earlier. Good Luck!

As was previously stated....male dogs do not go into heat.

The ideal time for neutering the male dog is between 5 and 7 months of age. Most vets will recommend around 6 months old. However, many animal shelters are neutering puppies betweeen the ages of 6 and 14 weeks. This is quickly gaining popularity. Early age neutering has been proven to be safe and effective, but waiting till the pup is older reduces the possibility of surgical complications.

Male dogs do NOT go in heat!!! If you mean he is humping things this is NOT a sign of sexual maturity but rather him trying to show dominance, trying to be top dog. Dogs can be neutered as young as 4 months, but 6 is the average. Some vets do waht is called a pediatric neuter which is done as young as 8 weeks old.

*******yes, 10 week old puppies do try out dominant behaviors and vi for order in the pack, humping is almost ALWAYS a sign of dominant behavior or a try at being dominant********

Ok, first of all, male dogs DO NOT go into heat. That is a term for females when they are ovulating. You can neuter your pets after about 6 months of age. In some large breed dogs, it can be as early as 4 months, depending on the animals size and the veterinarians preference. If your dog is humping or marking his territory, it is probably a behavioral problem and you need to reprimand him. If you want to have him neutered, contact a veterinarian in your area to find out when they can do it.

As you already know, male dogs don't go into heat. And 10 week old puppies don't practice dominance behavior. He's probably just humping, which many puppies experiment with. Not a huge deal. Your puppy may benefit from more exercise as excitement along can elicit humping behavior in young dogs.

Please, do NOT try the alpha behaviors as suggested, you will merely end up with an insecure dog that has learned you can't be trusted.

Instead, enroll your dog in a Puppy Kindergarten with a person knowledgeable about dog behavior. A good teacher will be able to help you with the humping behavior and to channel your dog's energy into more constructive behavior.

Humping is almost never dominance related.

The previous answer is correct. Males do not/can not go into "heat".

If your dog is humping you or other dogs, this is not necessary sexual. Especially with younger males, it is a dominance issue. Your puppy is trying to determine it's place in the pack and assert dominance over you. If the dog humps you, try the alpha exercises in the link below.

We got our male neutered right around 5 months old (and he still humps occasionally). 10 weeks is way too early. Consult your vet of the proper timing for your breed.

Male dogs can be neutered as early as 8 weeks - and it's easy to find a vet who will do it, even a low-cost (or free!) place. Just Google "neutering dogs" plus your zip code and you should get back some results.

Um, Male dogs don't go into heat... Only females do, being in "heat" is when they ovulate, and therefore when they can get pregnant.
Males can breed anytime once they reach sexual maturity, though I'm not sure when that is. Call your vet, and when you find out how old he has to be, make an appointment right then :)
Kudos for getting your boy fixed!

Your dog is not "coming into heat". That is a term for female dogs as they begin their estrus cycle, generally every 6 months or so.

All dogs use mounting behavior ("humping") as a sign of dominance over other dogs, a 10 week old dog is just exploring his dominance and trying things out. He won't be sexually mature for months.
