Why don't you get a Yorkshire Terrier? They are little and cute, you carry them in your hand (as long as you have them on a leash, and you can take them with you on the weekends.
Don't leave a little kitten alone. You will break her heart. Even an older cat would feel sad. It isn't the litter tray.... its HER! She needs you. A kitten is just newly away from her mother... mew! Please be an angel. There is too much suffering on this earth already ... and you will suffer, too!
It is not worth it.. You can always have a cat later, when your schedule is more "at home." Just be nice and let her go to a better home. Everyone wants that.

I have left my grown cats alone from friday to sunday with a large amount of food and water. Any longer than that and we get someone to cat-sit.
I definately agree with the others that an older cat is a good idea. A kitten needs much more of your time and I think it more likely to get in trouble when you're not around.
That doesn't mean you have to get a senior kitty. Go to the shelter and ask for something around a year old. It'll still be cute and will be a tad more independant. And older animals have a lower rate of adoption, so therefore a higher risk of being put to sleep. You may just save a life.
Good luck!

A cat would be fine, I have left mine with food and water for 6 days before.
A kitten on the other hand may not fair so well.
If you have a room that you can kitten proof then lock it in there.
Kittens tend to do a lot of exploring and can get hurt in the process. Just make sure that there is nothing that it can eat (besides food and water) lots of cat toys that can not be accidently swallowed, lots of food and water and leave the litter box as clean as possible.

Not a 'kitten' ... they need 'constant care' just the way a baby needs constant care. But if you really want a 'cat' (which ALL kittens grow up to be) then why not adopt a 'grown cat' from somewhere, and just make sure there is enough food and water when you leave, and that you leave it with a 'totally clean' box that is 'big enough' to hold two days 'offal' with a 'bit of extra room' ... and ALWAYS give the kitty extra good 'loving' just before you leave and as soon as you get home, and it should be okay.

Please do NOT get this kitten. Kittens are very hyper and need lots of attention. A cat's litterbox needs to be cleaned daily, and it is NOT okay for you to leave it for that long without being cleaned. The food that you leave out for your kitten can get yucky very quickly, which will make it not eat. This can develop into a serious eating disorder (yes, there are such things for cats) if this happens every weekend. If a neighbor of yours sees that you are not paying enough attention to the kitten by not being with it for two days out of every week, then they may report it as animal abuse. Your kitten will most likely not be very trained, so it is not a good idea to leave him/her alone. The bottom line is, if you can't pay enough attention to your pet, then you should not have one at all. Kittens are cute and cuddly, but they require a lot of love, attention, and a LOT of time.

you could get a couple of kittens to keep each other company, and get one of those self feed dishes, it opens when the cat walks by and closes when finished
Ive had kittens and cats all my life they don't need a lot of looking after as they sleep all day anyway, toys for a night time is essential though, toys with catnip in.
they do tend to poop a few times a day so a few litter trays would be advisable
but if its a regular thing and you go a way a lot an older cat would be more suitable

Well when she is a young kitten I would have someone babysit her...or you might want to consider getting a cat that is already grown...grown cats can take care of themselves for a couple of days..but that is the MAX..I wouldn't leave an animal on it's own any longer than that. If you do get a kitten though, definately will need a babysitter till it gets older..kittens can get into some real trouble with their curiosity.

If you are going to be gone all weekend I suggest you get an older cat then. It would be fine to leave an older cat at home with plenty of fresh water and food. But a kitten needs a little bit more attention and supervision.

okay well if you have a kitten it depends. if it was an older cat then it would be fine but if you jsut got it how old is it? id get one of those food dispensers and water dispensers they hold a food and water then she will be good with that. litter will be fine just if she poops and pees a lot you might want a plug in air freshener lol/ but if she is young like younger than 4months dont leave her. bring her with you if possible in a small cat kennel or see if a neighbor can check in on her. kids love cat sitting just pay em 3 bucks a day and they are fine and will spend lots of time wtih her

I wouldn't get a kitten...kittens will be real lonely especially if they are just winged... I would get 2 cats to keep each other company. When I go on vacation I leave lots of food and water..and the litter box, clean before you leave..
