A zip file is simply a compressed file. You shoud be able to open it in a windows explorer window, and use windows xp's built in zip extractor. However, if you are getting that message, xp might not be recognizing the built-in self-extractor.
There is a free zipping/un zipping utility called 7zip which will allow you to create and extract zip, tar, and gz files. To download a copy, visit 7-zip.org. Hope this helps!

yes, you can download or open a zip file as long as you installed anti virus program like Norton. beside, if you use yahoo mail, it will send it first before you download.
