I'm new to England, so I have lots to learn here. I just found out that I need to go to the G.P. in my area, but don't know how to go about finding this. Could someone help?

Contact your local council and they will provide you with a list of the names, adresses and facilities provided by all the GP's in your area.

You then need to approach the GP to see if they are accepting new patients.

Hi
If you need to go to see a GP now, go along to any GP and register as a temporary resident, this is easy and you can be seen now about your problem. Whilst your at the GP explain to the receptionist that your new to the area and don't have a GP and could you register with them on a permanent basis, you may be lucky and they will take you. If they can't take you because their quota is full, ask the receptionist what would be the best thing to do, she should be able to help. However if she can't then go to your nearest Citizens advice bureau, you should have one in your area.
I hope this helps. Best of luck.

I am glad I am in the US. We just find the best GP we can through our friends and relatives and recommendations from other professionals and then go to that GP. The government does not get involved.

ask one of the locals in local shop or friends or neighbours or local friendly people around. Im sure they'll be able to help. Then sign yourself to the doctors and then you become a member of that doctor's surgery.ring NHS Direct on 0845 46 47 if your in the UK. They will tell you nearest place to you.

Hi, all you have to do is type your area into this web page & it will find all the doctor's in your area. You can also check for dentist's & optician's if needed. Good luck.

If you mean in terms "General Practitioner" you go to your search engine look up "College of Physicians & Surgeons" this will give you all Dr.'s & their creditionals you need.
Also if they are taking on new patients.
