Try the free one first; if it doesn't work, try the other one.

I imagine the people who are willing to pay are more serious about finding a mate.

Also, I joined match.com like 10 years ago with a "free trial" membership, and they never charged me after that, and didn't take away my membership the whole year or so I checked after that.

I met my soon to be husband on match.com. There are going to be weirdos everywhere you go. I tried online dating and used yahoo, match.com and eharmony and there are lots of nice people on all. I think eharmony has less people on it actually. I used online dating only because I do not go to bars and I dont meet many people in my line of work. Eharmony is not free. I say give it a shot. Try it and if you dont like it then dont do it again. But of course, i had the best luck on match.com. ANd he is the only person i met from there...i had tried yahoo first.

Eharmony is not free. Yes you can get the free "profile" and be sent "matches" however the "matches" they set you up with aren't really "matches". I know someone who singed up with Eharmony, she was looking for someone in her own age bracket, her own religious background, her own interests and she was sent everything but. Eharmony kept claiming they were matching her on her "personallity points" and so they WERE matches. As for Match.com...I know nothing about them. I wouldn't go through either one or any of the other's out there.

Personally, I've tried match.com and I didnt like it. I liked Yahoo Personals better. Though, I've yet to actually meet anyone yet...I still seem to have better luck elsewhere... :(

I think the pay sites are better because they can verify people's identities with credit card info, and it cuts down on the crazies.
