Yes, from and work in NYC, you can get great deals or you can be swindled. Bet sure to STUDY about diamonds first, if you go in knowing your stuff you are less likely to be ripped off. They wont see you as an easy mark. But also as another poster said, get it appraised and make sure the return policy on the ring, just in case.

you could get something from walmart or sam's club. they would have something like a promise ring that could be used as an engagement ring. Also Jared's has a few promise rings that I wouldn't mind having as an engagement ring. Think outside the box. Cubic Zirconia can be very pretty too and costs WAY less than a diamond. And it lasts just as long. It also is made flawless, where an inexpensive diamond will have big flaws in it that you will be able to see.

Yes but it was actually an on-line purchase, I live in CA. The company is located on Fifth Ave. in New York's diamond district. The Company is Michael Jay Fifth Ave. We bought a loose stone and paid almost half of what we would have at retail ! If you know what you want (the 4 C's) you can type it into his search on his website and it tells you what he has in inventory. His website is www.michaeljay.com. A friend referred him to me and I highly recommend him as well. My diamond is absolutely gorgeous, and his customer service is fantastic !

It can be very shady and you really have to know what you are doing.....My fiance first went to 47th street to look around and ended up getting my ring at neighboorhood jewler in NJ.
