To make a really good smoothie you need to cut up about 2 cups of fruit and 1/2 a banana and put it in the freezer for atleast 15 minutes. In the blender add 1/2 cup milk, 1/2 cup white cranberry cocktail juice, 1 cup ice, the frozen fruit, and a pinch of salt! The salt is integral since it brings the fruit flavor up a notch. Note: if you have really juicy fruit like melon use 1/4 cup less milk, heavy fruit like apples, mangoes, pineapple, you may have to add 1/4 cup more juice. Just watch your blender and if stuff isn't mixing well add a little more juice!

Strangely (It doesn't sound good to me but it is) one of the best smoothies I've ever had and I make it quite often is the following.

1 cup raspberry sherbert, 2 cups watermelon chunks, 1 cup ice cubes. It is fantastic--smooth and strongly flavored.

You need fruit, lots of fruit and ice and well that is really it, in a blender. You could add sugar, honey and even club soda to give it a kick.
