My female has a really thick undercoat that never fully falls out. weeks of brushing and there is always some left from the year before. Should we shave her and get down to the undercoat and just let her start a whole new one next spring. The summers are not to hot so she should be fine with short hair. what do you think?

Better not to shave it. Instead ask about a shedding blade. This will help a lot in removing the undercoat. Huskies are just a breed that sheds a lot and even if you did shave her, she would still shed. It's also still winter so she needs the undercoat though the old from last year could have been removed.
Generally speaking, if you took your dog out and used a shedding blade on her you would be amazed at what comes out. Then do it the next day and the next for a week or so. You could probably fill a leaf bag with the hair that will come off.

take her to the vet or the groomers and ask for sure,,,,, huskys naturally have a thick coat, obviously, so, you don't want to get her sick by freezing her... even in the summer time, it'll be cooler to her than normal because she won't have her protection.

i'd try a shedding blade, you can do it once or twice a week if she'll let you, and, chances are she'll love you for it. and you'll love not having the hair all over your home.. lol

good luck!

Take her to a professional groomer. They may be able to get that out without shaving her. I don't like the thought of shaving her because the coat protects her from the heat and cold.

You NEVER absolutely NEVER shave off a Husky's coat as it will never grow back as it should. You will be asking for trouble by doing it as it can affect her skin as well.

Having all that hair doen't bother her one bit. However if you would like to shave her it is up to you. Still a hairless husky does look a little funny ;)

My friends had theirs shaved because of the heat and the shedding, they were really fluffy. They were pretty funny looking because they didn't have their heads done. The dogs look great now, they also look healthier.

I would take yours to a groomer, they have all the right tools and wont hurt her.

Consult a dog groomer to see if it's a good idea.
