What is the point of sex?

Question

I know what it feels like, but it's not worth my time, and I view it as immature, and not necessary.

I hate kids.

And I hate love.

The points (plural) of sex are:

1. Biological procreation (admittedly though, science has moved to the point where you can create an embryo ex utero and remove sex altogether from the equation).

2. An expression of love between people (no more or less beautiful/ romantic than any other expression of love).

3. Pleasure (re: orgies - some people just can't get enough)

I don't know why it's not 'worth your time' and have no clue as to why you think it is 'immature' and 'not necessary'. I also don't think there's 'something wrong with you'; quite frankly I don't know you and am not arrogant enough to presume the reasons/ background for your choice of words in the original question.

I can however say that it IS necessary to some degree, if only to perpetuate a living species. It might not be necessary if you didn't need to pass on your genes, or express your love with someone or if you weren't inclined to see it as a pleasurable pasttime as some do.

Sex is not immature, though many who engage in it, sadly, are.

The purpose of sex is the to reproduce. The reason that it feels the waythat it does is because that is to be shared with someone that has een deemed reprducing with. Of cousre, now sex has been trivilized almost into a past tme or sport in and of itself. So now sex is like a drug almost like a new curency used to buy and barter goods and services. For those that are addicted they do damn near anything to get that next high, from spending money, to dress a particular way, lie, and even steal it.
So yeah when you look at it that when then it can very easily be seen as something trivial as opposed to something represnting a connecttion between two individuals.

Is this a serious question? It is anything but immature or unnecessary--remember in order for a baby to be conceived---medical science aside----a man and woman need to have sex.. As a married man of 20 years--making love is a vital part of my relationship with my wife---its one of the ways that we express our love and affection for each other......however if you find it not worth your time then remain celibate...

Perhaps you have just not experienced it in a context which was meaningful.
This is one reason why I encourage people to wait until marriage. Within the bonds of marriage, it is an expression of love and affection for your spouse -- a symbol of your unity with her -- and not just a way of getting pleasure for yourself.

unless you need to make babies - that's really the only thing sex should be for. but it's also a way to get very intimate with your lover - you really can't be any closer physically then with that.
