I used to have the same problem.
I did have my nose cauterized a number of times. There were no needles used in the process. All the doctor did was spray something in my nose to numb it, then he took this stick that almost looked like a long match, and placed it over the broken blood vessel. The chemical on the tip of the stick reacts to whatever he sprayed up the nostril, and seals off the small tear in the blood vessel. This was a number of years ago, perhaps they may do it differently now. It was not too painful, but I will not lie to you, it did sting just a little, but after about an hour or so the discomfort was gone.
Another thing you can try is to use a saline nose spray. I use a product called "Ocean." All it is, is a regular saline solution in a spray bottle. There is no medicine in it, you just spray a few squirts in your nose to keep things from drying out in there. Keeping things moist will keep your nose from bleeding. You should also use a humidifier in your bedroom when you sleep. You especially should do that during these winter months when the furnace runs more, drying out the indoor air.
If you should have any other questions about this problem, you can feel free to e mail me. I am not a doctor, but I did have the same problem you have for a number of years. I would be more than happy to share any information I may have learned on the subject.

I used to get nose bleeds all the time - I think it was because the veins are very close to the surface. Some climate things, like humidity levels, can apparently lead to nose-bleeds too.

My brother had that problem but he didn't have them everyday and it wasn't that much. We took him to a doctor and they gave us some cream. The nose bleeds were only comign from one sde of the nose. They docs said this is because soemthign in that side of the nose was smaller than the other side. the doctor said something like that.

if in fact the problem is due to varicoses, they cauterize them use silver nitrate. yes it hurts and no the will not "gas" you just have to suck it up. but i have to say that daily nose bleeds are not normal and you should see a doctor. you could have a very serious problem that could disable u or cause death if untreated. you should see a doctor asap. blood should not come out of you anywhere except for fertile menstruating women.

As a temporary relief before you go see the Doctor, try putting Vaseline inside your nose.
