A registered yorkie could be anywhere between $800-2000.
Go to the American Kennel Club web site. They should be able to give you a list of good breeders in your area. Yorke's can be pricey but you get what you pay for. I would stress getting a Yorkie with AKC papers. AKC breeders have to follow certain guidelines and raise healthy puppies. They are guarenteed.
I know of several people who have Yorkies that don't have their AKC papers and they have some type of defect which eventually ends up in higher vet bills down the road.
You could also contact your local Human Society and ask them to notifiy you if they ever get any yorkies...you never know.
Also, you can contact the local dog rescue person in your area. Sometimes they get Yorkies as well.
I would not buy from a pet store. I would also be careful about advertisements in the newspaper.
Good luck.

depends if its purebred or not..get one from the shelter if you can, 1. they are cheaper, and 2. your giving a dog a home who really needs it. but be prepared to spend a few hundred the first year on mandatory puppy shots(if you get a puppy) vaccinnes and spay or neutering..all that fun stuff...lol...good luck!! check www.petfinder.com for dogs in rescues all around

why not go to the pound/humane society and rescue a dog? it generally doesn't cost as much and you'd be saving a life.

I found my purebred Keeshond at our animal shelter where he was several hundred dollars less than if I had got him from a pet store or breeder.
