How do you get rid of a fear of loud/sudden noises? Examples of such noises are balloons popping, explosions (for me, I encounter it during certain science lectures), dogs barking, etc. Usually any exposure results in a greater fear of the situation or any cues associated with the noise (chemicals, open flame used in science demos, dogs, balloons). It's something I've had since I was born, and though it has gotten a little better, I still find it pretty debilitating and embarrassing in certain situations where these sounds can be present.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Learn to anticipate the sounds if possible, focus on staying grounded by doing relaxation breathing before it happens.
