Hi there what you are describing is perfectly normal for the day after a tattoo,up to three days,It will start to dry and scab this is also normal,During this time do not scratch pick or rub as it can cause scarring. Also do not put any ointment or cream on it except for maybe a very light coating of vitamin e oil, very light. Other creams antibiotics etc slows down the natural healing process of a tattoo, also do not cover or bandage it as it needs air to heal properly. your clothing should be light and not tight, Good Luck. The person who did the work should have explained all of this to you,and you should have asked the questions that are of a concern to you.

It's going to be raw and swollen for a few days or even a few weeks. Did the tattoo artist give you some disinfectant and a moisturizer for it? There are plenty of products out there for tattoo care. You can look them up on the web and see if anyone near you carries them.

Keep it clean and moisturized, and if your clothes touch it frequently, you may want to cover it with sterile gauze (available at the drugstore) until the redness goes down.
