I myself have experienced this and have seen many friends get involved with men who do not want to committ. It did not seem like things were like this many years ago.

it wasnt! and its sooo annoying. The reason im guessing is that men ( and women too) have gotten extremely "immoral" as it were, and only like the opposite sex for physical attraction, and the feelings they get around that person. Once those feelings are gone and the attraction is boring, they move on to another "Date"

i wish sometimes that "dating" or courting was like it was years ago, it was respected a whole lot more.

I guess you weren't around many years ago, and it's not just men. The only difference between now and "many years ago" is the fact that there are more people on this earth now and it seems to be more prevalant because of that fact. There have always been men and women alike who don't want to get involved in a committed relationship. If you keep expierence it then you have to look inside yourself to find out what keeps attracting you to these people and what makes YOU attractive to them before you can change anything.

Brinlarr, interesting take on it, but ultimately, you use dysfunctional relationships as your basis for this theory. Normal people do not take sides of kids over parents. Its relationships where one person is juvenile and still a kid mentally where this happens. Parents that are mature don't do this.
As for men not wanting to commit, they fear that they might miss out on something better, or don't want to look whipped to friends. It takes a strong man to realize a woman is special and not to care about what else is out there. It doesn't help that tv and movies show that monogamy is not the way to go, when in fact, it can be so much less stressful than active dating all the time.

No they certainly were not...but then "years ago" they were not any getting sex either...at least not for free. Thus, today there is no reason to committ and so you will never see the likes of "years ago" again. It's a different world with different rules.

Women who think they have something to loose are prone to it too.

You know who isn't? People who have nothing to lose.

You're generalizing: it isn't just men. If you have to healthy people in a healthy relationship that really know each other, then it usually isn't a problem.

Show me a relationship where one or both partners cannot commit, and I'll show you a relationship that is either very new or where at least one of the partners is a bit of a flake. If you could lose a bunch, would you commit to a flake?

I have the opposite problem. I don't want to commit, but it seems all the boys I see are the ones who are wanting to commit.

What is a girl to do?

You've got me. I'm a guy who is willing to commit and I have to my beautiful girlfriend. I've been hearing for years though from my female friends that I'm something pretty special when it comes to guys.

Yeah, I've noticed it too. I can't stand it when a guy tells me "I'm just havin' fun right now" Translation: "I'm a male whore" lol
