I recently saw on a film a girl who had put toothpaste on her spots. I asked my friend why she did this and she said that she put it on because it helped her to get rid of her spots. I just wondered if this is true and how i could do it if it is?

NO, NO, NO - I keep seeing this question here over and over and over again. This is a HUGE myth - toothpaste does not help acne pimples. I have suffered from acne for many years and have tried many many treatments, including this one - it is simply not true and I just felt like and idiot for going to sleep with toothpaste on my face.

I remember this practice years ago in the 1960's. Girl's in those days put a very fine smear of toothpaste on spots so that it disguised the colour of the spot. It didn't get rid of it. A good antiseptic cream is far more effective. I do remember also that putting eau de cologne on cold sores was supposed to dry them up

putting toothpaste on your spots only drys it out so then it can clear faster. But you only put a little bit of toothpaste on the tip of the pimple and you don't smudge it in around the pimple.

Not go away, just make it dry and also it won't leave black spot on your face when it's healed. But I don't use it to heal the spot itself.
Rub it on the spot when you go to sleep and don't scratch even if it's itchy. When you wake up, wash your face and use colorless acne treatment (I use Johnson & Johnson clear acne lotion) to start your day. Toothpaste makes it easier because it dries the acne, but you must combine it with proper acne treatment and face cleanser etc. Good luck

actually to tell you the truth the doctors say that toothpaste is only good for your teeth not your poores, face, zits, anything that irritates your skin and your mind, and quite frankily i've seen that on a medical chanel the womans face was clear of spots but she had a big rash that every time she touched it it would irritate and turn really really red!so i would reccomend you use an oil-free anti bacterial special doctor formula they give you when you visit them when you have spot, irratating rash, skin disorder, anything that is wrong with your skin....so good luck with trying toothpaste just remember rash!!!!!!!!!!

Regular old toothpaste (not gel) does indeed have anti-bacterial properties to it. However, it can be really irritating to the skin itself. Your best bet is to use a triple-antibiotic ointment on the spots to make them go away.

I have tried it when I was younger as I too had heard about it. I don't recall it made my spots go away I just remember it stung a bit when I first applied it. I think I would stick to the spot creams on offer in the chemist.

It may help zits, but not dark spots due to aging. Dark spots can only be taken away with bleaching cream or laser.
