How come one of the things involving Christianity is to forgive and accept, when most Christians only insult and argue when someone disagrees?? Isn't that like defying the god that you are arguing to protect??
Seems a little stupid to me, what do you think?

Looking for consistancy within fundamentalism is a fool's errand. Best not to even try.

That is a good question. The major flaw here is the human element. In the Bible it says "being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;" Philippians 1:6. We are not completed yet, and many of us fall into traps laid by loaded questions, and qiestions that are only meant to attack and anger us. That doesn't mean that it is ok, but no one is perfect. Also, Jesus says to pray for those that persecute you, and I try to do that whenever I see someone blasting christians. I have noticed that a lot of atheists seem to focus on just christianity, and I think that this is a great forum to discuss my beliefs with other people who have different views.
God Bless

I'll give you "forgive", but what do you mean by accept? If anyone could just say or do what they wanted, and it be acceptable, then what happens when its in opposition to what God said (which is the case most of the time)? Are we supposed to just accept it, so their feelings won't be hurt, and forget about God? Where's the fun in that?...
I would much rather please God than please a person. So, if you want to join me, welcome aboard. If not, God have mercy upon your soul.
With a better understanding of your question, I'll agree that Christians shouldn't resort to arguing their point with anyone. Neither should anyone else, for that matter. It's a simple question of self respect and etiquette. Who can take you seriously when all you do is respond with your emotions?
On the other hand, there's nothing more gratifying than unloading on a person when he's down, knowing that he has no possibility of getting up again. It's such a release... YEAH!!!
Passion is a terrible thing to waste on someone that agrees with you.

It does not seem stupid to me. It illustrates our sinful human nature that is a constant barrier between us and God. Christians are supposed to follow the Ten Commandments and are supposed to forgive just as God forgives our sins. We do have sinful natures and struggle to follow the Commandments. If most of the Christians that you have met are insulting and disagreeable, I am sorry that you have not been exposed to more people who are forgiving. A Christian is not supposed to agree with someone who is advocating something that is contrary to Christian teachings. Unfortunately everyday we do things that defy God, but we do not need to protect God. He does not need our protection, we need his forgiveness. Maybe you have been in contact with Christians who were focusing on the law of God and were not into the Gospel, the good news of Christ. It is a difficult balance to attain.

There are some Christians who seem to believe insulting the beliefs of others is the way to make them accept God. It's sad that those people have to ruin Christianity for everyone else.

Although there are those who claim to be Christian, there are many who claim to be "Christ" like, but they do not follow the Word. Along with other religions, there are faults in the believers and that questions the faith. People are human and they make mistakes, but the religion never fails. So, it all depends on the faith of the believer, not the believer of the faith.

Its pretty typical of this age we live in. There are over 22,000 christian sects. Jesus will come on the clouds (of confusion) and they will miss Him. In fact, tis true, they have. He came like a thief, gathered the jewels (the rapture) and left without being noticed by any but the jewels who were waiting for him and were ready, free of prejudice and prepared to learn.

I get the feeling that the Christians on Y!A have no idea what to do other than throw around arrogant, ignorant insults and deliberate lies about people they disagree with.

That's a pot calling the kettle black....
Anyway, I can almost certainly say that any "Christian" who comes on here to deliberately insult someone else is probably not a true Christian.
However, I know there are also true Christians on here that DO insult sometimes. All I have to say for that is: We're only human.
As for arguing, there's a difference between arguing and debating...
