Midge I will answer this question but I am not an atheist.

I love to understand and spiritually explore the physical and knowable universe to the extent that I can. From my perspective, if there is a god, it probably doesn't even know that humanity exists. It created the universe and that is the creation, we are just a happy side effect in a see of happy side effects. There are 10^21 stars in the universe and even if there are only 10^10 planets that could support life, the universe must be absolutely teeming with life. We are no greater than a simple moss in the grand scheme of things. We are an elegant chemical reaction.

In this scenario, god has moved on and created countless other universes. If you liken the universe to a piece of art then you must accept that the creator has moved on and is not concerned with every single fine detail of its creation..

So I choose to explore and internalize the beauty of our physical universe. That is where my spiritual focus is.

(Also, do you go to a museum to see dead bodies or pieces of art?)

There is no creator. Surely you knew that atheists knew that, right?

Why are you acting stupid? What the heck good do you think it's going to do you?

Someday when you're a little older you'll realize that your reputation is something of value, and you'll regret trashing it like this.

We don't believe in a "creator", so why would we honor it?

OMG. The creator must have been dragging on a joint when he created you.
