Well this depends on your definition of healthy. Canned tuna is very unlikely to give you food poisoning because it has undergone heat treatments and comes out of the can fully cooked and germ free. Fresh tuna is much lower in salt and other additives but if left out too long can become a feeding ground for microbes that can make you very ill. For example a long trip home in the trunk of your car where you stop and wash the car, experience a little traffic etc. Then if you compound this by eating it raw--not uncommon with fresh tuna--you are being a little risky to your digestive system. This is much more dangerous for small children, pregnant women, and the aged since their systems aren't are tough as the average 20 year old male!

Probably portion control. Both are extremely healthy options, although I would say go with the steak because canned tuna usually gets mixed into a fatty gloppy casserole or lots of mayonnaise. Plus, high quality tuna is meant to be eaten raw or medium-rare at the very most cooked. Try to get that out of a can!

What ever gave you that idea? If it is the reports on mercury in your fish ~ IGNORE THEM - it's a crock. Good Solid Albacore in the can is great and so is the fresh stuff!
