I have had the sound for a week now and when it is in the right side it is a hum. My mom is a nurse and said that it is fluid behind my ear due to the cold I caught two days later and that my ears were filling with fluid because of the coming cold. I just wanted a second opinion as to what is going on with the swooshing noise. Yes, I have made an appointment with a doctor for this and just want further clarification if it can be offered. Thanks

It's sounds like swimmer's ear. It's water caught in your ear canal, and the "swooshing" sound you hear is actually bacteria starting to cause an infection. Pretty neat if you think about it, but if you don't get it checked out soon enough, you are going to be in pain.

yea i would agree that it is from a cold. my ears are constantly getting backed up and when i go to the doctor they irrigate them and it feels so much better and no more swooshing! lol

I dont know about anybody else....but when I forget to take my blood pressure meds, I can hear it. Like a whooshing sound when I move my head just right.

Then there's the voices....but that's another story.
