the good samaritan could have helped the man in mutiples of ways, not all dependant on money though Jesus used that to impress upon us that we should love our brother think if you were the man that had been beaten and robbed of all the things he(the samaritan) would have done for you i think if it were me just having a friend to start with, helping me to a place that i could be cared for, possibly getting in touch with someone(family)that could take me in,just making me know that i wasnt alone, just a few

Yes? A good man has money to spare, but the bigger point is always missed and why the parable was said in the first place. First you must know the Law and then understand the context of the words. The Law says a priest or levite could not touch a man with a blood issue without going through the act of purification for 7 days. So their religion comes into play here, but this is always over looked by Christians. Now consider a priest sees the man and now must decide will he serve one man that maybe is a sinner and not a member of his church, or does he forget the sinner and do what God wants him to do for his congegation of many people that need him. The Levite knows he is not the one most needed because many do his job in the church so he at least thinks about it, this is more like the deacons who are not needed so much. Now consider a Samaritain is one the Jews hated and had no fellowship with because there was segragation in them days and a Samaritan was one that was a cross between Jew and Gentile, but he did not have a religion that prevented him from helping one in need or he did not have to choose between religion and helping a man so he could help him with no problem. If you see this you can see why they were more offended at this saying. To them it was very much like telling a white man in the south the black man is a better man than you are or maybe a cross between black and white is a better man than you religous people in the south.
this was the greater point of his words

The point to Jesus' story was that the Samaritan would have done everything in his power to help a person that did not have the same nationality as himself. The Bible is filled with individuals who haved trusted God and also had money - the opposite is more rare, i.e., when God sends someone to help, that someone will be equipped with the talents necessary to finish the job. God does not need money to solve problems, but perhaps the persons that Jesus was speaking with had a problem with it.

He didn't have the money - he had to leave the guy and go home so that he could raise the funds to pay for the Samaritan's care.

But the point of the story had nothing to do with performing good deeds or helping those who were in trouble. Jesus was talking to Jews - it would be the equivalent of preaching a sermon about "The Good Muslim" to a chuch full of Southern Baptists.

Jesus told a story to illustrate a point. It isn't a true story, so far as we know, so that detail is irrelevant. Perhaps he could've made it that an Innkeeper was a Samaritan and found a person lying in the road. OK?

The whole point is to love your neighbor as yourself no matter what walk of life the needy person is from. If you don't have funds, then do what you can ,and encourage others to help too.

There was still much to be done that didn't involve money, but that's not the point of the parable.
