How Do I Know If I Have BDD? (Body Dysmorphic Disorder, BDD, Quiz)
Ask yourself the following questions to determine whether you might have BDD.
1) Are you very concerned about the appearance of some parts(s) of your body which you consider especially unattractive?
Yes or No
If yes: Do these concerns preoccupy you? That is, do you think about them a lot and wish you could worry less?
Yes or No
2) How much time do you spend thinking about your defect(s) per day on average? Add up all the time you spend on this.
1. Less than 1 hour a day
2. 1-3 hours a day
3. More than 3 hours a day
3) Is your main concern with your appearance that you aren't thin enough or that you might become too fat?
Yes or No
4) What effect has your preoccupation with your appearance had on your life?
1. Has your defect(s) often caused you a lot of distress, torment, or emotional pain? Yes or No
2. Has your defect(s) often significantly interfered with your social life? Yes or No
3. Has your defect(s) often significantly interfered with your school work, your job, or your ability to function in your role (e.g., as a homemaker)? Yes or No
4. Are there things you avoid because of your defect(s)? Yes or No
You're likely to have BDD if you gave the following answers:
Question 1: Yes to both parts.
Question 2: Answer b or c.
Question 3: While a "yes" answer may indicate that BDD is present, it is possible that an eating disorder is a more accurate diagnosis.
Question 4: Yes to any of the questions.
Please note that the above questions are intended to screen for BDD, not diagnose it; the answers indicated above can suggest that BDD is present but can't necessarily give a definitive diagnosis.

Body Dysmorphic Disorder occurs in people who are normal-looking. However, they are overly concerned with a small defect in their appearance, or they are preoccupied with an imagined defect in their appearance.
Those who have BDD are abnormally preoccupied with a real or imagined defect in their physical appearance. For example, they may worry endlessly that their skin is pale, their hair is too curly, their nose is too long, or something else is wrong with the way they look. When others tell them they look fine or that the flaw isn't noticeable, people with this disorder don't hear or believe it. The person with BDD may also experience periods of depression, anxiety, and even suicidal thoughts because of their preoccupation with their perceived flaw.
In order to qualify for this diagnosis, this preoccupation must affect their lives in at least one situation, be it work, leisure or marriage, or cause significant distress. Oftentimes, those with this disorder may go so far as to have a lot of plastic surgery.
Diagnosing BDD
BDD seems to affect males and females equally. A person whose family has a high incidence of mood disorders and obsessive-compulsive disorders also seems to be at high risk. According to the American Psychiatric Association's DIAGNOSTIC AND STATISTICAL MANUAL - FOURTH EDITION (DSM-IV), doctors use the following criteria to diagnose BDD:
*preoccupation with the perceived physical defect
clinically significant distress or impairment in school, work, or social situations
*preoccupation is not better explained by another mental disorder, such as anorexia nervosa

There's a pretty common screening test you can do at home. You'll need about 6 feet of butchers paper, a marker, and a good friend.
Hang the paper on the wall, and draw a life size outline of what you think your body looks like, then stand against it, and have your friend trace your shape.
Do they match up? If not, you may have BDD. It's a good exercise to help you see where your perceptions vary from reality.

The previously posted quizes and tests can be helpful to you in figuring out if you have a problem. However, remember that only and psychologist or psychiatrist can make a diagnosis. It is also important to note that having a diagnosis will not fix the problem. See a counselor or psychologist, who will help you work through it.

you mean depression? If you remain so cryptic you will never find an answer, in 20 years as a medic I have never heard it referred to as Dysporia. You can rule out types of depression by general presentation, and other mental illnesses by tests.
Please all questions should be in english not greek
