As imperfect humans, we often don't know what we need, even when we're certain that we do. Thus, it's not always necessary to say a lot of words in prayer. The Lord knows what's in our heart, even if we can't formulate the right words or thoughts. He does not want a rehearsed prayer that sounds deep or spiritual, but is empty
Ecclesiastics 5:7 Much dreaming and many words are meaningless. Therefore stand in awe of God.
We must pray with sincerity and love, as we would with a friend or loving parent...because he is both. When we go to the Lord this way, we will experience His presence in a way mere words can not explain. We can not always depend on "feelings", because there will be times the Lord feels far away, or as if He is not listening. That's ok. That is our imperfection talking, not truth.
As we grow closer to God, we graduate from "feelings" to "knowing". The Holy Spirit is always there to help with intercession of our prayers, so what's in our heart will always be conveyed to God even if we couldn't find the right words. :)
Romans 8:26-27 says: Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should what pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according the to will of God.
There are times I've prayed, and have only said "you are worthy father, use me"(or other). The rest of my prayer could not be put into verbal words. In short, talk from your heart, and share your love for God. The Lord is all knowing, and does not need us to elaborate on every detail because He already knows.
Ask him to teach you how to speak with him...He will answer. Somedays you may go on and on, and other times you may simply say "Thank You Jesus". Our prayers should also not always be centered only on ourselves, or what we need. Again, if you ask the Lord, He will reveal how you are to pray. Miji

We just talk ordinary every day stuff like what's the deal with warped spacetime. How about a little help with the grand unified theory? Was the big bang cool to watch? How come John 14:14 doesn't work? Stuff like that.

I talk to my Father in the name of Jesus about any and everything. It fills me with hope and peace. I should do it more often.

He's God and I am His creation and I adore Him, I ask Him to make me more like Him, to love and serve those He died for on the cross.
I try sometimes to make up for the ingratitude of His creatures who do not acknowledge His love for them, by asking His forgiveness for their lack of faith, hope and charity, because they do not know His love for them.

When a person prays, meditates, etc. it is a personal act. If one does not cherish their spirituality, then one will post here. If one does, however, one will ignore this question and move on.

I personally don't "talk" with him at all. If I did it would be a personal matter.
