Black slacks with black sneakers to a funeral. I want to be comfortable.

I'm not trying to be disrespectful, but it is very cold where I live and I will be on public transportation. My husband's car is in the shop. It's his aunt's funeral. There is no guarantee that someone in his family is going to give us a ride, because his family is kind of funny acting.

Wow what a predicament. And regardless of any other responses, by posting this question youa re showing that you ARE concerned with your husbands family adn their feelings. If it were me I would just carry a bag that I can carry dress shoes in and wear your sneakers until you get close, then switch. Maybe there will be a corner or somethign you can store your bag in until it's tiem to go back. Then you can put the sneakers back on for your trip home. But if thats not an option. They are both black so it's probably all right.

Yes it is okay to wear black slacks with black sneakers to a funeral provide both are clean and you wear a respectable top. If someone does say something to you about it, it is their problem and not yours after all which would have been better....for you to come to the funeral wearing what you are wearing or for you to not have come at all.

It depends on who the funeral is for. If it's for some old person you've never met before, fine. But if it's someone you love, show some respect and upgrade your outfit.

I think the only person who can answer that question is you. As long as you are there for the right reason and you go inside in a respectful manner then go for it. Personally I would probably dress a little better. But hey whatever floats your boat.

Take a nicer pair of shoes to put on when you get to the funeral. You'll be fine. The important thing is you are attending.

Heaven forbid that you make yourself uncomfortable. I'm sure that's uppermost in the bereaveds' minds, and that they don't want any signs of respect.

I see nothing wrong with that. Sorry for your loss.
