my dog has the body of a pit bul and the face of a lab. The brindle coat really makes her look like a pit. Is there any way to tell for sure I got her from the pound and they are clueless

There's really no concrete method to identify the breeds that make up your mix, short of educating yourself on various breeds.
Brindle coats aren't always indicative of the pit breeds, nor are they exclusive to same. Do some image searching on the web, look for physical traits that might be visible in your mix, and read up on the temperament characteristics of those breeds. You'll find a match in no time!

Without knowing the dog's parentage there is no "absolute" way to tell if your dog has Pit in it, but there are several characteristics shelters look for in trying to determine Pit or Am Staff lineage in a dog:
Barrel chest
Massive mouth and heavy jaws
"Flower" ears
Globe-like skull

Take her to a Vet, they should be able to tell, usually, pit's have extremely large mouths, and the muscles that open and shut that mouth attatch at the top of the head. Giving them a very powerful bite. This is why they are favored fight dogs. Any dog is the result of training not breed, some breeds have behaviors, but dogs have to be trained to fight.
