How terrifying was it? I just saw pics but have a phobia about this kind of thing.

That was an extreme condition to be sure, but the simple fact that not a single aviation incident arose from it should tell you something about how well-trained and professional flight crews are. Hats off to everyone involved.

I wasn't in an aircraft but one at our local airport was going along the taxiway when it got hit by a gust of wind and one wing touched the ground nobody was hurt and it returned to the stand safely with only minimal damage

No I wasn't but even with those winds they wouldn't have felt it as much because they were in the stratosephere. In the stratosephere there is no weather. there might be some wind pockets but no wind!!!

yes i was on a flight from Belfast To Birmingham, and i will think twice before setting foot on a plane again

I was in a 3rd floor flat - that was bad enough. I'd hate to think what it was like in the flats higher up!!! I don't actually fly a lot.

no i wasnt , but i do fly a lot and that must have been a ride and a half "hats off to those pilots"
