Go to winworldpc.com; they have free software and operating systems: even the betas! Just copy the ISO file to a CD and install it (or look for SETUP.EXE in the ISO file, but you need WinAce to find it).

While 98 SE is the latest windows version I will probably ever have on a machine that just runs windows, a better solution is probably Linux. It is much better suited to older machines (or newer machines for that matter as it make more effective use of the hardware, which can be even better by recompiling the kernel for the particular machine it's running on) and you can always get plenty of help for it. You can even make it look like windows and run windows programs (with WINE, Crossover, Cedega, etc.) if you want. Check out Puppy, DamnSmall, Absolute, etc. or just look around on distrowatch.

Did you know that Windows does not SUPPORT 98 no more. Google OEM and you can buy windows xp with SP2 CHEAP. The USA Supreme Court said "It is legal to sell OEM and discs that say sold with bundle only.," Yes, I heard Bill Gates, is turning over in his grave, oops, computer. What you do not get is the fancy box, but the warranty and everything else is just as good.
