Jesus did not tell us to be Jewish. His apostles, who were not wrong (they were there with Jesus; you think you understand Jesus better than they did?), wrote that he was the final sacrifice for sin. Read the book of Romans.
To find out why there are so many religions, study history, particularly the history of Christianity, and you will see why so many organizations were started. Everybody wants to do things his own way instead of following Jesus.

Who is stopping you in becoming Jewish?
As Jews we do bot believe in converting anyone to our faith. We have no missionaries to go out and preach onto the non Jews. We never had crusades and never tried to conquer anyone.
Yes I heard the argument about Canaan, but as the scriptures say it was God's will for it was his commandment into conquering the land for the Israelites.
The reason to why there are other religions in the world is because most other organized religions are from Noah's descendants and are called Benei Noah (children of Noah) who have to follow seven laws. They are in case you wanted to know: belief in God, to respect Him and Praise Him, Respect Human Life, respect the family, RESPECT FOR OTHERS’ RIGHTS AND PROPERTY, CREATION OF A JUDICIAL SYSTEM, RESPECT ALL CREATURES, Do not be cruel to animals. Most religions of the world follow these laws, hence Jews do not see a problem with that why do Christians see it a s a problem and try to convert everyone else into their faith as do Muslims.
We are all people and deserve to live in peace with our neighbors.
Yo are right Jesus was a Jew. No one ever denied that not even the Jews. However none of the prophesies came true. Even the famous Isiah chapter that Missionaries throw in does not provide answer that Jesus was the Messiah.
I hope that this answer helps.

Jesus was raised Jewish and was a Rabbi. He had some radical beliefs and was killed by the Romans for them. His followers (apostles) decided that he was a messiah and made a separate religion out of his teachings.
There are other religions that existed outside of Judaism. See Shinto, Buddhism, Islam, etc.

Jews believe eventually their messiah would come. Along comes a jew named jesus who claims he is the messiah. Most jews laughed at him, and called him crazy. Some people believed him and started following him.
Christians think their holy dude came, died, and is gonna come again.
Jews think the christians are worshipping a nobody; Their messiah still hasn't come.
Your whole way of life is dependant on whether 1 guy was holy or not.

This is of course only what I believe, but I believe that God gave us freewill. Jesus Christ acted as a gentlemen. He did not force people to believe that he was indeed the Messiah. Instead he gave everyone a choice.

God's chosen people is the Jews. A prophecy said that His own people would deny Him. The Jews deny Christ. Rabbi's know this prophecy and are saddened by it, what they do not realize is they are denying Him right now.

You should know, then, that Jesus was not Jewish, but He is God. The other religions are just Satan's copies of God's way. Imperfect copies.
