It's for this school work I have to give in by tommorow and it doesn't say in my dictionary and the online translator is as crap as usual.

"The students are expected" is "se esperan los estudiantes."
It is in the same form as "se habla español," which is "spanish is spoken." You can't say "los estudiantes esperan" because without the "se" it just means "the students wait"

Its the "impersonal" tense. The "se" isn't a specific voice. But in this tense the verb is the third [el/ella/ud] voice when the subject is singular or the sixth voice [ellos/ellas/uds] when the subject is plural. Hope that makes sense!
